I co-ordinate a program, Outback Links, which places skilled volunteers where there is need in Rural and Remote Australia.
As a program, we are looking to further examine how we can use our existing processes and networks to further connect Rural Australians with assistance, support and understanding. We are a relatively "new" program in the world of volunteering, so we are working towards best practice without compromising our ability to tailor our program to the needs specific to Outback Australia.
Manage a mental health service for young people
I help organisations and individuals to work out and define what they need from a website. And then I build it.
During my weeks I enjoy working with others on their gender diversity initiatives in panel discussions, presentations and corporate discussions for Xplore for Success. This is balanced by my work for Dress for Success Sydney, a charity which supports disadvantaged women through services including: dressing and styling, career support initiatives and mobile services. I get great satisfaction from these activities.
I also sit on the Board of Vita group who retail in the Telecommunications and IT sectors.
Having four grandchildren also allow me to relish my time spent with these young people who will have the opportunity to build a stronger Australia.
